In 2002, the Law Enforcement Technology Group, LLC (LETG) was founded by Jeffrey D. Gottstein. Mr. Gottstein is a full-time police officer who possesses a strong technology and business background with specialization in the strategic management of information systems. With Mr. Gottstein’s police experience and technology background, he began working on computer applications that streamlined several law enforcement activities.
Upon LETG’s establishment, Mr. Gottstein began working with several law enforcement entities including the Minnesota Department of Public Safety where he assisted in the development of the Minnesota Online Accident Reporting System.
With early success, LETG rapidly expanded its offerings and evolved into a systems integrator that provided consulting services; technology-related hardware and software solutions; integration services; and hardware installations in 2003.
During this time, LETG also became a Microsoft Partner using the Microsoft Platform for its development. In addition, LETG became an ESRI partner.
Due to the ongoing demands of Minnesota’s law enforcement community, LETG began building many applications to meet the functional voids that police agencies were experiencing in technology. As a result, several mobile solutions were developed that were built specifically by police officers whose vision was to dramatically improve the speed and accuracy of field reporting. In addition, the intention was to reduce redundancy by automatically transferring field report information to multiple RMS systems. During this time, LETG also began exploring alternative forms of network communication to mobile units.
In 2005, LETG branded its applications under the eMERTS™ name meaning: Management of Electronic Records and Transmission Systems. At this time, LETG announced the release of its new eMERTS™ Product Line. All of the following products were created and built by LETG:
LETG has also solidified its business relationship with IPC 911, now IPC/Positron Public Safety Systems, in 2005. Together, LETG and IPC/Positron offer a full suite of products to enhance public safety services through state-of-the-art, map-centric Computer Aided Dispatching, sophisticated mobile solutions, including a full array of field reporting capabilities, and a comprehensive browser-based Records Management System.
Understanding law enforcement’s myriad technological needs, LETG has established itself as a software solutions innovator through sophisticated development processes and unique integration techniques. LETG’s competitive advantage stems from its highly functional “best in breed” products, known as eMERTS™, that successfully integrates with a number of existing technologies. eMERTS™ offers law enforcement agencies comprehensive solutions, which significantly enhances their operational capabilities and effectiveness through the records management system, field-based reporting, automated ticket writing, and messaging. Also, the AVL, GPS, and GIS functionality allow for greater efficiencies that augment response capabilities. All of which offer a direct benefit to our customers and the communities they serve.
